Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods is seeking to hire an Area Lead in our Oven Room Department at our Refrigerated Fresh Kitchen located at 600-A Southlake Boulevard. The position requires weekend work as assigned. The reporting time for this position is 12pm – 8:30pm, Sunday – Friday.
Position Summary:
The Oven Room Area Lead is responsible for an assigned area of production within the manufacturing operation at Ukrop’s kitchen facility. The Area Lead will ensure that the area operates efficiently to meet required demands while maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and adopted GFSI procedures. The position requires weekend work as assigned and requires the candidate to be flexible for all shifts when necessary or requested.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees an assigned area within the manufacturing operation which may consist of 5-20 associates working to meet production during a shift.
- Ensures staffing levels are sufficient to operate a production area/ manufacturing area safely and effectively. Immediately notify the Shift Supervisor when there is an issue with staffing that will hinder production or present a safety risk.
- Provides regular feedback on processes/production issues and provides training to area Associates. Makes recommendations for process improvement; implements adopted process improvements.
- Ensures all Associates are trained on and adhere to GMPs, adopted GFSI and quality standards, sanitation, and general safety, and HACCP procedures if applicable.
- Regularly communicates with Shift Supervisor(s) and/ or Shift Manager regarding root cause of inefficiencies, difficulty in achieving production schedule, Associate training/ re-training needs, disciplinary action needs. Assists Shift Supervisor(s) in creating work schedules for his/ her manufacturing areas.
- Supports GFSI and FSMA. Assists in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we are in compliance with all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant. Reports all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor.
- Prioritizes order fulfillment.
- Ensures raw materials (including packaging materials) are staged and available to the production area.
- Ensures products meet food safety and quality standards.
- Ensures all paperwork- sanitation, safety, HACCP, batch tickets are correct and complete.
- Conducts PRE- and POST-OP inspections of the area. Identifies, corrects and/or reports all hazards to the Shift
- Supervisor(s).
- Supports an accident-free work culture. Assists in accident prevention and risk identification. Collaborates with HR/Safety Manager to minimize risk exposure from ingredients, equipment, or ergonomics.
- High School diploma or GED REQUIRED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing supervision REQUIRED; experience in a continuous operation (24/7), food manufacturing facility preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience leading teams.
- A minimum of one (1) year working in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is REQUIRED.
